Hans Heyting was born on August 13, 1918, in Beilen and died on June 9, 1992, in Borger. This bust of Hans Heyting was unveiled by fellow writer and poet Gerard Nijenhuis on September 28, 1996. The location of the bust at the roundabout in the middle of Borger is diagonally opposite the spot where Hans Heyting daily stood with his bicycle near the local pharmacy. From this point, Hans observed everything that passed through this busy spot in Borger. On the pedestal of the bust, the following text is inscribed: Writer, poet, defender of the Dréentse language. Co-founder of the Dréentse monthly magazine Oeze Volk. The Oeze Volk foundation has contributed to this monument on the occasion of its 40-year existence. To honor Hans for his contributions to Drenthe and his language.
