Hans Christian Andersen
sketchfab
Hans Christian Andersen, affectionately known as H.C. to Denmark's citizens, stands proudly adjacent to Copenhagen's City Hall. A proposal for a majestic statue of this legendary author was first put forth all the way back in 1936, with plans to place it squarely on the City Hall square. Two years later, Utzon-Frank emerged victorious from a prestigious competition, tasked with designing a poignant memorial in honor of the celebrated poet. Despite initial progress, however, the statue remained unfinished at the time of its creator's passing in 1955, whereupon Luckow-Nielsen took up the mantle to complete the project.
