Hannya Mask 01

Hannya Mask 01

Japanese folklore features the demon Hannya, often depicted in traditional Noh and Bunraku plays using a fierce wooden mask with horns. This malicious entity may be Japan's most well-known demon. I find Japanese style art fascinating, especially these masks. Attempting to make one myself, I've stayed true to the traditional look while adding my own embellishments. It's challenging not to make a demon appear too sinister. Perhaps I'll try again with another mask design. I'm sharing two models: one as initially created, with a fairly smooth back and possibly requiring rafting/support; the other flattened for strong bed adhesion. The mask is oriented to print vertical horns without support issues. There's slight overhang on the teeth, but it shouldn't be an issue. The print size is 108mm long x 80mm wide x 87mm high.
