Hanging Wire Spool Rack

I love the Adafruit hook-up wire spool set ( https://www.adafruit.com/products/1311 ), but the cardboard box it comes in takes up too much of my limited workbench space.

I've thrown together this hanging spool holder and it's completely solved the problem for my particular situation.

Note that I'm using a cheap workbench I bought from Bunnings Australia: https://www.bunnings.com.au/pinnacle-compact-garage-workbench_p2760256

This is designed to fit that, but I've included my original FreeCAD file if you want to make changes.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

FlashForge

Printer:

FlashForge Creator Pro

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.3mm

Infill:

25%

Notes:

Adjust as necessary for your printer, this was a very quick ABS print. 25% infill seems strong enough.

Oh, and obviously you'll want to print this design two times ;)

Post-Printing

The included wooden rod was slightly too large to fit into the holes (despite my careful measuring), so I ended up rounding the edges with a file about 5mm from each end. I'd recommend doing a little bit at a time until it just fits snugly.

You may also need to add tape or adhesive to stop the hooks from sliding around.

Category: Tool Holders & Boxes
