Hanging lattice strip shelf

Hanging lattice strip shelf

thingiverse

A custom shelf to complement an existing one can be created using wood "lattice strips" from a hardware store. These lattice strips are typically listed as 1½ inch wide, but most of the pieces obtained measure less than 1.5 inches in width and under .250 inch thick. Some pieces may be too large for the intended use. The holes in these wood strips are precisely measured at 40mm x 6.1mm (1.575 inch x .240 inch). To ensure a proper fit, a .stl file of the holes is included for testing purposes. When assembling longer shelves, it's essential to consider adding a bracket in the center to prevent drooping. The shelves can be mounted using the provided screw holes and then sliding the wood strips into place. If space is limited, it may be necessary to create a hole or slot at the ends of some wood strips for easy screwdriver access. This custom shelf design offers flexibility with nine different pieces, including curves and hex patterns, short or tall options (approximately 2.5 and 3.5 inches), single or double shelves, and varying numbers of wood strips (1, 3, or 4). The shelf is created using .3mm layers, 20% infill, support in screw holes, and a possible brim. This design is made with the user-friendly software Tinkercad.
