Hanging Hot Air Balloon Lamp

Hanging Hot Air Balloon Lamp

thingiverse

This is a cheerful DIY balloon lamp designed around the Väte lamp from Ikea, which looks remarkably like a hot air balloon when turned upside down. Instructions: Set up the lamp and install an LED lightbulb, making sure to prepare it for decoration. The next step makes the lampshade rigid, but also harder to change the bulb afterwards. Cut colored tissue paper into small squares and thin white glue until it's paintable with a brush. Use this mixture to adhere the tissue paper to the lamp in your desired pattern. You can also decorate with paint or watercolor, but note that the wire inside may not guide stripes accurately due to its position relative to the shade. Print the basket and attach it to the narrow part of the lamp using string or thin wire. Printing Settings: Rafts: Off Supports: Off Resolution: 0.2mm/layer Infill: 100% Notes: The original basket had a braid at the top with some segments not fully supported, but printing was still possible with a few blobs under the brim that can be easily trimmed.
