A decorative escutcheon, removed from an Anglo-Saxon hanging bowl, boasts a unique style. Hanging bowls are a specific type of container, typically crafted from bronze. This particular example, forged from copper alloy and coated with enamel, features intricate interlace patterns surrounding a cross design. Discovered on September 30, 1925, north of the Whitby Abbey church, this artifact dates back to the 7th century. Measuring 58mm in height, 53mm in width, and just 2mm in depth, it weighs a mere 36 grams.
