Hanger Hanger for Ivar shelving
thingiverse
If you're one of the billion people who own IKEA's Ivar shelving, you might find yourself occasionally hanging stuff from the side of the unit. The latest revision, V2, includes a taller lip at the tip to prevent hangers from falling off. It also features a tiny tension-bump to give the cross-member a tighter grip and slightly taller fingers for added stability. As shown in the attached picture, clothes hangers can sometimes collect on an Ivar unit, becoming ornery when not well-controlled. They tend to reach out and grab you as you pass by. To solve this issue, I designed a simple solution from scratch in just a few minutes and printed it without much effort or material. The result is great, so I'll print more and explore other uses for them. You can use this design to suspend an electrical cord on the shelf for something sitting there (like your iron), hang a coat on it, or even attach your keys. It's incredibly useful and very cheap to print. Give it a try! **Print Settings** * Printer: MP Select Mini * Rafts: Doesn't Matter * Supports: Yes * Resolution: .2 * Infill: 15% * Notes: I used a raft and supports due to the slight slope on the underside. Only a tiny volume of supporting structure is needed. Alternatively, you could print without supports for a smoother finish. A 15% infill with about a 1.2mm shell thickness worked well, despite looking somewhat open inside. The combination of the shell and honeycomb produced a good result, so I'll stick with it. Printing at .16mm resolution resulted in a smooth finish, but it would likely work fine even at .2mm or more. **Designing This Solution** I created this design using Blender in just a few minutes, making it quick and simple to produce.
