Hands-Free Door Opener
thingiverse
Materialise just released a Handsfree Door Opener to combat the spread of Corona-virus. I strongly believe their design could be improved for FDM 3D-printers, so I've done my own redesign. Kudos to them for their original idea; I simply reimagined it to make it printable without support on any FDM printer in less time. With my Prusa MK3 and PLA material, each piece takes just 1 hour and 45 minutes to print. Check out the original Handsfree Door Opener here: https://www.materialise.com/en/hands-free-door-opener This door opener works with a wide variety of door handles that have diameters between 18 and 22mm. There are three different designs for use with M3, M4, and M5 nuts and bolts. Feel free to give the design your own twist to fit your specific door handle style. Simply add four 16mm long bolts and nuts, and you can Corona-proof any door. Adding a piece of rubber (cut from an old bike tire or glove fingers) can help prevent the rotation of the door handle. Let's print as many door handles as possible and donate them to retirement homes, local supermarkets, and other places that need them. Together, we can help flatten the curve!
