Handrail socket (Customizable)
thingiverse
This is a fundamental component. In my residence, there's a staircase with old 30x30 square steel tubes serving as pillars. As you can observe, the handrail is mounted inside the concrete floor and without the cover, it appears rather unsightly. Take a look at the images to see for yourself. However, the original plastic covers got lost, broken, or started losing their original coloration, resulting in an entirely non-uniform appearance. For years, I've intended to replace these components, but now that I'm in lockdown mode over Easter, I've finally had the time and created a simple model using FreeCAD. The model features a 0.3mm gap in one of its corners. You can see this on one of the pictures. This slight gap, combined with the non-heavy design of the model's back, provides sufficient flexibility for the PLA to slide through the 30x30mm tube. The PLA remains stable enough to slide back into its original position, eliminating the need for glue unless you want it fixed in place. As always, the FreeCAD model is included, allowing you to adapt my cover socket to suit your needs. Happy Printing
