Handles for Allway Blade
thingiverse
I acquired an Allway Tape Knife from http://allwaytools.com/product/8-blue-steel-tape-knife-wsolid-handle-rubber-grip-1cd-tk8/. To improve its performance, I sharpened the edge using a Dremel. However, the blade's handle was too large, which caused it to dig into and tear the tape on the build bed when laid flat. To resolve this issue, I removed the handle; however, it became challenging to maneuver without leverage, and the blade heated up quickly on the heated bed. Therefore, I designed a new handle that could be attached using four small bolts through holes drilled into the sides of the blade. These bolts overhang the bed, avoiding any interference when removing prints from the build surface. Additionally, I used ReplicatorG and Skienforge (version 50) with the "Replicator 2 Slicing Defaults" profile and set Infill_PerimeterOverlap(ratio) to 0.3 for optimal printing results.
