PROJECT PRESENTATION

This project is atube clamp allowingto maintain a phone in all possible positions thanks to aball joint on a bike, a motorcycle, a quad bike, or any tube !

The assembly is donewithout any screws, which however does not affect its robustness.

The goal for me is to create other supports that can accommodate this ball joint for other applications, such as in a car, for a camera stand, etc...

The idea come by seing a Cable Ring Clip Organizer fromIdee_Design => https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4730897

####Enjoy printing !

UPDATE

14/02/2021

The step of the part " Screw " was not the right one (22x3 instead of 22x2). I apologize for the potential inconvenience. The component has been updated.

I took the opportunity to make a Right Step version, and a Left Step version.

Please note:

I don't customize my designs, to the person, because I share them for free. A global solution is given (adapted to the greatest number), but I can't do it on a case by case basis, without remuneration for the time spent.

Print Settings

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

Yes

Notes:

| | | --- | |Printer Brand: | Creality |Printer Model: | Ender 3 | |Raft: | No |Support: | Yes | |Resolution: | 0.2 max |Infill: | 10-15% | |Filament Material: | Best PETG or ABS |Filament Color | Doesn't matter |

About PLA :

PLA may be brittle when the mount is installed, which requires a slight deformation of the part, especially for large diameters. Unless you have a very deformable PLA, I would not recommend its use for this part.

Moreover, PLA is less suitable for outdoor use than PETG or ABS.

About the model

Which files should I use?

In the .zip folders, which you will have to unzip, you will find all the parts with different diameters.

You will need to take a nut and a frame.

*If this is the first time you print the phone holder, choose in the folderFrame R which has a step to the right for the mounting of the ball joint. *If you have already printed the phone holder from Tripod Phone Stand (no screw!), you will probably need a left step for mounting the ball joint. Then choose your frame inFrame L.

The parts are already well oriented for easy printing.

Available Tube diameter

With this model, you can access mount from18mm diameter to100mm diameter.

If you encounter any problem with a particular diameter, do not hesitate to leave me a message so that I can help you.

Also, if the diameter you are looking for is not available, please let me know. Keep in mind, however, that due to their deformability, it is possible to use the size above or below for .5 diameters.

Compatible phones

The maximum supported phone width is80mm, and the minimum is50mm.

This covers 99% of the telephones on the market. Width is usually between 70 and 75mm.

A remix is available with longer arm if needed: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4722194

The maximum thickness is10mm.

Not suitable for a tablet

Assembly instructions

For the tube clamp

Clamp theFrame on the tube

Use thenut to tighten theFrame on the tube

For the phone mount

Thescrew of the ball joint must be passed through theball of the ball joint before screwing the ball on thePhone arm. A little of glue may be necessary to prevent the screw from loosening over time.

Insert thephone clamp on thearm and use thetightening screw to tighten

You want to use it differently?

A100% customizable ball-and-socket joint is available here => https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4739696

It has the same dimensions as the one of this model. You can thus create the attachment you need.

IOpen Source Ball Joint => https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4739696

Looking for other support for your phone?

Check out thephone tripod available here => https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4694593

This model uses the same ball-and-socket joint. Only the support changes and is fully compatible!

Phone stand => https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4694593

Problem shooting

If the clamp rotates around the handlebar, use a tape on the handlebar for more grip.

If the screw of the ball doesn't fit in thePhone arm, heating the piece with a lighter can help, or a little sanding can help.

Do you think I did a good job?

Feel free to comment what you think of this design and tell me how you use it!

If you want to help me, don't hesitate to visit my paypal.me for the price of a nice croissant !
Category: Mobile Phone
