Handle for 1966 HD M50S

THERE IS NO LOGO OR TEXT ON THE FILES PUBLISHED! Back in the '60s Harley Davidson bought 50% of Aermacchi's motorcycle division and had them make a series of smaller motorcycles that would be part of the Harley Davidson brand. One of those was the M50S, a 50cc 2-stroke bike made from 1965 to 66 with approximately 9,000 produced. Years later in 2012 one of these bikes found its way to my friend Daniel Pero, a moped enthusiast. It was in desperate need of renovation and Daniel, being somewhat of an expert on the area, took on the task head-on. Years went by as bit by bit the M50 returned to its former glory. However, there was a problem: it's always tough to find parts for these old bikes and you have to be somewhat of a detective. Even though Daniel is good at this kind of thing, the badly worn handles were nowhere to be found. After having given up on the search, Daniel asked if it would be possible to reproduce these handles using 3D printing. As he had one of the old ones on hand, that wouldn't be much of a problem. Spending some time recreating it in CAD and making some small changes to make it better suited for the 3D printing process all that was left to do was find a suitable material to print with. Obviously wanting to get as close to the feeling of an original rubber handle, they needed to use a soft "rubber-like" material. NinjaFlex TPE was the closest they could find. They browsed through the colors available and found a color (concrete) that they felt was as close as they could get. With the material loaded, the file all sliced up and the 3D printer ready to go, all that was left to do was let the 3D printer do its magic! And they think it delivered. Daniel was happy with the result and the 3D-printed handles are now in place on the fully restored 1966 HD M50S. Just recently this beautiful "moped" was featured in a Swedish magazine called Classic Bike with a 10-page story and front page! Thanks to Daniel Pero for providing the pictures!
