Handheld Torsion Crossbow
thingiverse
In Design Studio class, I fabricated a portable Ballista model that fires standard pencils (with trimmed erasers and notched tips) as my project. To construct it, I printed all parts individually, drilled holes in the string pulley, crank, and ratchet. Self-tapping screws secured these to a metal bar, while support rods were glued with super glue to gusset plates. The main body was attached to the bottom plate. A 1/4" steel rod affixed the Ratchet Prawl alongside the crank/pully assembly and string holder/pull shoe. Finally, I reinforced the projectile launching line by running 25lb fishing line through it four times for enhanced strength.
