Handheld drill press
thingiverse
This handheld drill press offers a fresh take on the traditional design. It's essentially a remix of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3585407, but I've taken it back to the drawing board and rebuilt it from scratch. This attachment lets you drill 90-degree holes using your trusty handheld drill. It fits my Dewalt DCD996 perfectly, and it should fit any drill with a collar diameter of around 48.75mm. Here's what you'll need to get started: Hardware requirements: * 2 x 1/4 inch zinc-plated steel rods, each 8 inches long (you can find these at Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/1-4-in-x-36-in-Zinc-Plated-Round-Rod-802297/204273961) * 1 x 3/8 spring pack (check out this option on Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-Zinc-Plated-Compression-Spring-6-Pack-16087/202045468) * 1 x 1/4-20 bolt, approximately 5 inches long * 1 x M4 screw longer than 10mm and a matching nut Before you start assembling the drill guide, make sure to drill out the holes in Drill Guide - Top with a 1/4" spiral bit while running it backwards. This will carefully enlarge the hole until the smooth rods can glide inside smoothly. To help them slide in more easily, I applied a small amount of paste wax to the rods. Now, clamp Drill Guide - Top to your drill using the 4mm screw. When you're ready to use this attachment, place Drill Guide - Bottom against your workpiece and ensure it's flat.
