My First Post on Thingiverse! Note: You'll need skate bearings for this model - I got mine from Amazon http://amzn.to/2l1ZbJ7. Shoutout to Mcl0vin, whose awesome handspinner design inspired me to create these. This was my first print and it sparked the idea for this project. I discovered that designing a hand spinner is an excellent way to learn 3D printing and modeling. I started by trying to make a simple hand spinner, but then decided to push the limits and create the longest spinning hand spinner possible. My latest design, HandspinnerV7, achieves this by minimizing air resistance when spinning. This project is still in development, so be sure to check back for updates as I refine these files! Feel free to send me a private message with any questions or suggestions - I'd love to hear from you! Overview and Background See the summary below for more information. Lesson Plan and Activity The Iterative Process Designing a hand spinner was an incredible introduction to 3D printing. I purchased skate board bearings, which are inexpensive when bought in bulk, and requested access to my school's printer. The print quality didn't need to be perfect, and the design is compact enough to fit in my pocket. This project demonstrated the value of iterative design. Materials Needed What You'll Need 3D Printer Skate Bearings That's all!
