Hand-rest for 3D Space Navigator (model 3DX-700028 SE)
thingiverse
As a mechanical designer, I utilize an intensive workflow with a 3D Space Navigator device (model 3DX-700028 Standard Edition) for creating 3D models within Computer Aided Design applications. To enhance work comfort while minimizing expenses, I designed this straightforward hand-rest. The hand-rest's dimensions and assembly tolerances were carefully specified to ensure seamless integration with the 3D Space Navigator device. This ergonomic accessory consists of two primary components: a main part fabricated using a generic 3D printer with black PLA material, and a soft sponge contact surface shaped into a rounded design. The sponge is secured within a pocket on the hand-rest's rear side via bi-adhesive tape strips. Finally, I inserted the 3D Space Navigator device into its housing, connecting it to the PC via a USB cable that fits snugly into a slot located at the front of the hand-rest.
