I stumbled upon an incredible hand-painted house by Antonio Neves: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/low-poly-house. Determined to hone my World of Warcraft environment modeling skills, and with a burning desire to work for Blizzard one day, I seized the opportunity to recreate this stunning home myself! My objective was to master a fast workflow, so I rapidly block in and UV the house in Blender, then splatter some paint on it while getting a sense of what tiling would allow. Next, I open the simple texture in Ps to arrange the islands and meticulously paint it. Returning to Blender, I re-align the UV islands and create a second set, baking a couple maps for light mapping along the way. Mixing these in Ps, I figure out how to get UV sets into Sketchfab. Done! I'm thrilled to report that I finished this project in just 9 hours - a remarkable feat for me! I'm stoked to gain experience creating quick flat models and am eager to tackle more projects like this. Full credit goes to Antonio Neves, whose design inspired my recreation (for practice purposes only).
