Hand Operated Vice
grabcad
The aim is to create a portable vice suitable for various tasks in a mechanical workshop. A vice is a hand-operated tool that holds objects between its jaws, allowing further mechanical operations. To design this, start with a sturdy base capable of handling fluctuating loads. Attach movable and fixed jaws to the base using sling joints. Safety handles with end stop balls should also be included. The clamp screw, featuring a square thread, secures the connection between the clamp and workstation. Additionally, provide a piece that holds the clamp screw and vice base. Depending on workspace constraints, the vice may be portable. To tighten the screw, use a handle with one end and a square thread between the clamp and workstation. Assemble all parts using nuts and bolts, and include a scale on one jaw for direct workpiece measurement.
