hand mirror base

This is a hand-drawn 3D pen creation I whipped up on the fly as a gift for someone special. I repurposed a broken compact mirror and a jumbo popsicle craft stick. To make it, you'll need: * A 3D pen * Wood filament * Clear filament * Compact mirror * Jumbo popsicle stick * Silicone stencils (optional) * Glue gun * Your choice of decorations Here's how to do it: The 3D Pen Version (Freehand) 1. Attach the stick to your mirror with glue on the back of the compact mirror. 2. Cover the entire back of your hand mirror with wood filament. 3. Carefully outline the front of the mirror in any shape you like, creating a bezel that covers and holds your mirror in place. Fill this area in as neatly as possible until it looks like one whole piece. 4. Once everything is flush and covered, add scrolling or any design you like to give it a 3D effect. 5. Add a thin clear filament outline to the inside of the mirror and cap that with some wood filament. 6. Add embellishments as needed to cover any imperfections. 7. Enjoy your recycled hand mirror! Or better yet, gift it to someone special. UPDATE: The Slim Version & Original 3D Printed Versions Here's how to make them: 1. Print in PLA wood filament. 2. Dip the front center of the round area in a bowl of very hot water. This should soften the filament. Quickly and evenly press an oval mirror into the filament, then run it under very cold water to set. Add a bezel around the mirror and print to secure further. 3. Decorate as you wish!
