Hand Holding Cup split and cleanup
thingiverse
I came across this model while searching for a hand design I could modify for my own projects. People in the comments were discussing how they wanted it broken down, and also that it wouldn't print properly. The printing issue is due to intersecting surfaces. Some slicers, especially Simplify 3D, don't like mesh intersections at all. There are ways to work around this problem, but the best solution is simply to clean up the model so they don't have this issue. Since it's easy enough to do (with a boolean operation for anyone interested), I went ahead and did that for you. There are three "sets" of models available. The entire thing as one chunk, base hands and cup, and the base and hands as one chunk with the cup separate. The last option would be best used on a dual-nozzle printer to print in multiple colors. If you try to print it and then assemble it together, you're likely to have trouble getting them to fit properly. The tolerances are exact, so chances are good that they won't align correctly. The models are now available for all of you to use and modify.
