To Apply Parking Brake by Hand 1. Locate handbrake lever located on the center console between the front seats. 2. Press down on the brake pedal with your foot to make sure brakes are engaged. 3. Use your right hand to grasp the parking brake lever, which is usually a metal bar or lever with a button or knob on top. 4. Pull the lever up towards you and push the button or turn the knob at the same time until you feel resistance. 5. Hold the lever in place for a few seconds until the parking brake engages securely. 6. Release the handbrake by pulling the lever down to its original position. 7. Make sure the vehicle is in park (P) before applying the parking brake, unless it's an automatic transmission with a separate park switch.
