# Hamster Land! A collection of hamster items designed to fit in a 2.5 gallon or larger hamster cage. ## The House This innovative hamster house boasts an integrated food chute: simply drop small treats into the chimney, and they will emerge in the bowl! This design is a modified version of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1378959, with significant improvements made to create a more functional and appealing space for your furry friend. I added the bowl, chimney chute, and enhanced the house's height by incorporating a recessed bottom that allows for bedding material while keeping the litter/shavings contained. The house is designed to sit above the litter / shavings, making it easier to clean and maintain. You can customize your hamster's home with their name using Maya or OpenSCAD, which I've provided in the clean (no name) model. To make cleaning even simpler, consider adding a grating or slide-out bottom, which is currently on my TODO list. ## The Wheel Updated: Check out the brand new, fully customizable wheel at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3494282! This version features STL files that fit a 5-gallon aquarium. This wheel design is a remix of the beautiful original from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1083729 and the base from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2048692. I've included both the standard base and a remixed version with a segmented litter box / dust bath area, which has proven to be a hit with my daughter's hamster! The original design incorporates a 608 bearing (available on Amazon for just a few cents), ensuring smooth and silent operation. I've added printable bolt and wingnut components along with two washers that keep the wheel spaced correctly. ## The Tower Updated: I've introduced a second tower option, inspired by https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:682167, but modified to suit hamster needs. Be cautious when placing this tower against the glass, as it may create an escape path for your furry friend! This design is also a minor remix of http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2139139, with adjustments made to accommodate a hamster standing on top and begging for food! I've flattened the roof area and attempted to correct a glitch in the wall of the stairs (though my patch may not be perfect). ## Printing I printed most of these designs at 0.35mm resolution on my MK3. For the nut and bolt, I used 0.2mm with 100% infill and slowed down the print speed to ensure a smooth finish. PLA is non-toxic, but my hamster hasn't had the opportunity to test this theory yet! Note that PLA doesn't hold tension well, so avoid over-tightening the wingnut. The towers should print without support, but be prepared to clean up any small details like the lion crest opening. The lion crest is a separate component, allowing you to print it flat and at higher quality if desired.
