Contrary to all beliefs, my dwarf hamsters did not chew on it... yet. (10 days and counting at the moment of writing). I recommend printing it out of food grade PLA, though. Also, make sure the printing process doesn't leave holes or fringes for the pets to pull on. Go for a clean and lower speed printing process that involves at least 2 shells. I imagine that there are types and types of PLA. Some of them might be more aromatic than others. Therefore, if you come across some plastic type that the pets start to chew on, simply change it and experiment with a different brand or color. This design was initially created for adult dwarf hamsters, but it can be scaled up to shelter different size pets like guinea pigs or rabbits. The exterior blind windows and their frames can also be painted for better contrast and looks. Just be careful of what paint you use and if it's safe to be eaten.
