Hammerhead sharks form a unique group of sharks that belong to the family Sphyrnidae, a classification based on their remarkable head structure. The cephalofoil is a distinctive flattened and laterally expanded shape resembling a hammer. Hammerheads inhabit warmer waters globally, typically found along coastlines and continental shelves. Unlike most shark species, some hammerhead varieties often swim in schools during the day, becoming solitary hunters at night.
