I've designed a new mag-ball carriage that I'm calling the Hammerhead due to its resemblance to a shark. The old design resulted in a loss of 20mm in both directions, which was too significant an impact on my build plate. These new carriages are engineered to reclaim that space while maximizing arm travel. I printed them using ABS with a 100% infill and a 2mm wall thickness, ensuring they're rock solid. Any flexibility would compromise the print quality. The STL files I've attached include three different designs: one is a complete build, and the others are designed to fit together with some adhesive. I used ABS Juice as my adhesive, so make sure the parts fit well before gluing them in place. For mounting, I employed M3 x 8mm button cap screws - six per carriage. The balls are 9.5mm ball bearings with an M3 hole drilled and tapped. The spacing between the balls is set at 40mm. I'm still working on perfecting the effector and arm designs. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out.
