A very basic hammer model is often referred to as a claw hammer due to its distinctive curved claw on one end used for pulling nails out of wood. This type of hammer typically weighs between 8 and 16 ounces and features a flat, broad face on the other end for driving nails into wood. The handle of a basic hammer is usually made from wood or fiberglass and can be either straight or angled to facilitate use in tight spaces.
