Hamburg Crest

Hamburg Crest

thingiverse

We opted to develop a simplified rendition of Hamburg's city crest. This is a 2D-3D model that fits within a 10cm by 10cm square space. We repeated the model ten times, extruding each element: both stars, the door, the door rim, the castle base, medium crenelations, top crenelations, outer towers, middle tower, battlements, and the dome on the middle tower. Our final product boasts 7 distinct layers. When printing this design, I noticed it yielded a somewhat flat appearance compared to others in the class. Those without smooth backing fared poorly. Additionally, most 3D models featuring words or letters faltered due to their small size; letters became indistinct, ruining the overall model. To achieve optimal results, I recommend printing at double scale. When comparing smaller and larger versions of the same design, it's clear that the larger version far surpasses the smaller one in terms of quality.
