The Weber coupling for bicycle trailers is indeed the standard for bicycle couplings. When upgrading the Thule Chariot (current generation) to a Weber coupling using an adapter kit, users encounter the problem that the modified fork no longer clips into the bicycle trailer sideways - there's a lack of the ball head on the Thule coupling. I solved this issue with these parts - by inserting them into the Weber coupling, the fork now fits again in the intended holder. Note: Depending on how far the fork rod has been extended, it may be that the fork does not fit geometrically into the holder. However, if the trailer runs roughly behind the front bicycle, the length should be sufficient.
