Halloween Horror Movie Lithophane

I'm excited to share my Halloween project with you all, and I have to say it's probably the most epic horror movie mashup I've ever seen. Growing up, I was absolutely obsessed with horror movies, and I thought it would be a great idea to pay tribute to them in a unique way. The pictures don't do it justice, so I'll let you see for yourself. The 6 panels are carefully positioned in the base and crown, held firmly in place by glue. To add an extra layer of depth, I painted the backs of the panels black around the image, which creates great contrast. When it comes to driving this masterpiece, I used a "DC 5v 4-phase 5-wire Stepper Motor+Driver Board+Remote Control Wireless" that I found on eBay. This clever device helps me control the movement with precision. To build the internal drive shaft, I repurposed a spare threaded rod and added a standard 608zz bearing for smooth operation. For the vertical driveshaft, you can use a wooden dow rod that's 8mm or 5/16" in diameter and about 220mm or 4.3" long. Simply cut it to size and trim as needed – the top portion should sit just 1-2mm off the base. If you notice that the cone on top keeps slipping inside the cup, try applying a thin layer of Halloween liquid latex or rubber cement to both parts and let them dry. This will give you more grip and prevent any damage. Just be sure not to glue them together – they need to be able to slide freely in case the top portion gets jammed, so the motor doesn't burn out or break any parts. *** 10/24/18 *** I've added two new files: ShortCenterTube.stl & ShortTop.stl. These are designed for anyone who wants to skip the top crown but still have it rotate in the base. Keep in mind that these have not been tested yet, so use with caution. *** 10/18/18 *** I've uploaded a smaller version of the main litho called Half-Sized_Horror.stl, which measures 100x100x65mm. While I haven't printed it myself, it should work just fine. *** 9/27/18 *** The main litho no longer needs to be resized (I've renamed it to MainMashup.stl). The crown's orientation has been fixed, and all the parts should fit nicely together now. I've also added a diagram of the motor/gear assembly for your reference. To keep things organized, I've cleaned up the filenames as well. *** 2/6/18 *** I've uploaded the files for the motor portion and included some pictures of the internals to give you a better idea of how it all works.
