Hallgrímskirkja - Iceland

Welcome to Iceland! Hallgrímskirkja Lutheran Church sits proudly in Reykjavík, Iceland's bustling center. This iconic landmark is a must-see and stands out throughout the city. Designed by State Architect Guðjón Samúelsson back in 1937, it was inspired by Iceland's rugged landscape of trap rocks, mountains, and glaciers. After nearly five decades of construction, the church finally opened its doors in 1986. At an impressive 74.5 meters (244 feet) high, Hallgrímskirkja is not only Iceland's largest church but also one of the country's tallest structures. Named after the renowned Icelandic poet and clergyman Hallgrímur Pétursson, who lived from 1614 to 1674, this magnificent building serves as a tribute to his legacy. MiniWorld is thrilled to bring this charming miniature model to life, which also represents Iceland in our Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup Collection. This intricate design was carefully crafted by hand using Autodesk Fusion 360 software. We'd like to extend our gratitude to the creators of this masterpiece and encourage you to give credit where credit is due – it's all about sharing culture and knowledge!
