Human: BOB0042 (the "Hall Shipwreck"). Inspected by N. Richards and P. Delano on March 30, 2018. Special thanks to Jerry and Marty Slayton from Cavalier Surf Shop, Roberta Thuman and Cliff Ogburn of the Town of Nags Head, and Nathan Henry and Billy Ray Morris with the NC Underwater Archaeology Branch. The wreckage measures 39.2 feet long and 14.5 feet wide. It appears to be a part of a ship's side, specifically the top of the gunwale/bulwark area. Frames are double-layered, with each individual frame in a pair measuring 12 inches on each side and over 15 inches molded. Each frameset is approximately 24-25 inches sided, while the space between frames ranges from 6-7 inches. The frames show extensive treenailing. Six intact framesets remain, but one is missing at the southern end with only a mortise left behind, and at least five are missing at the northern end of the wreckage. Outer hull planking can be observed between the frames, with additional hull planks visible at the northern end of the shipwreck. Some external hull planks measure 12 inches wide.
