Students in my 3rd grade class created this 3D design as part of their engineering project. Working in small teams, they used the engineering design process to develop innovative solutions for real-world problems. One group's client was a classroom teacher who required a more efficient hall pass system. The students were concerned that traditional hall passes became dirty and germy, so they designed a clip-on attachment to minimize student contact and prevent it from being set down on unsanitary surfaces.
