The iconic Tomb of Mausolus or Mausoleum at Halicarnassus is a remarkable burial site built between 353 and 350 BC in what is now Bodrum, Turkey, but then known as Halicarnassus. Constructed for Mausolus, the ruler of a region within the Persian Empire, and his wife, Artemisia II, who was also his sister. This magnificent structure owes its design to the exceptional skills of Greek architects Satyros and Pythius from Priene.
