The DAF CF truck with a Gross Vehicle Mass of 32,000 kg was designed by DAF - see https://www.dafbbi.com/en for more information. The half-pipe tipper body, sub-frame, and scissor-stabilized structure were developed in-house. Structural analysis involved static analysis and optimization topology using ANSYS Workbench's linear analysis tool - watch a tutorial at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or0giorS86U&feature=youtu.be. A critical load case was simulated by dropping rocks on the tipper body, which is typically one of the most significant applied loads (Drop Test), using LS-DYNA software for elastic-plastic analysis. The results recommend using thin thicknesses of wear-resistant and high-strength steels instead of mild steels. This ensures a tare weight of 11,666 kg, allowing the tipper truck to carry a payload of 20,334 kg.
