Half-Flywheel HO Scale Flatcar Load

Half-Flywheel HO Scale Flatcar Load

thingiverse

This HO Scale model features a half of a large 20-foot diameter flywheel for massive industrial machinery of the late 19th century. Heavy cast steel or iron objects like this were frequently manufactured in two or more parts to facilitate easier shipping via rail. In this scenario, the flywheel was crafted in two halves to be bolted together at the destination point. This particular model is divided down the center, requiring two identical prints glued back-to-back to form a complete model. Printing it flat against the bed yields significantly better resolution than printing it upright as a whole piece. To create an entire flywheel, you'll need four identical parts that are scaled correctly. If properly scaled, this model could make for an excellent representation in an open well flatcar or a depressed center flatcar.
