The preliminary model of the iconic aircraft, designed by legendary engineer Kurt Tank, demonstrated exceptional stability at high angles of attack during low-speed flight. However, it could not achieve its intended Mach 2 speed due to a lack of powerful engines during the Cold War era when technology transfer was restricted. The aircraft featured impressive specifications including a length of 15.87 meters, a wingspan of 9 meters, and a maximum takeoff weight of 10,908 kg. Powered by two Bristol Siddeley Orpheus Mk 703 turbojets, it reached a top speed of 1,112 km/h at sea level. Armament comprised four 30 mm ADEN cannons with 120 rounds per gun, a retractable pack of 50x 2.68 in (68 mm) rockets, and up to 1,800 kg of bombs on four wing pylons. Regrettably, limited data exists for this aircraft online, making further information scarce.
