Haier Air Conditioner AC remote holder
thingiverse
This custom holder is designed for the Haier AC model ESA3089 remote control. Unfortunately, the original factory remote has a poorly designed layout where the three middle buttons feel identical whether you're holding it correctly or upside down. This print provides a solution by adding an offset and distinct tactile feedback to the remote. I quickly created this design in OpenSCAD and printed it out; the corresponding .scad file is available below for your review or modification. The holder features a hole for the IR transmitter and another opening at the bottom that allows you to remove the remote easily using a thin object like a pencil or pen. Although I aimed for precise corners, they aren't perfectly curved, but it's close enough. My initial attempt (revision 1) had the IR and bottom holes off by about 1mm; this is version 1.1, where I added an outward bevel to the IR hole and centered both openings correctly. It's not flawless, but it functions as intended. I printed it with Blue PLA because that was all we had left in stock at our office. Remote Dimensions (mm): 50 x 80 x 5.75 UPDATE: July 4, 2018 - The OpenSCAD file has been modified to enable easy size adjustments; a smaller version suitable for printing on a Monoprice Select Mini is now available.
