Hafted Tool XCB-003-443 XCB-003 or IZM-003 was thoroughly investigated by A.P. McCartney in 1971 at the site. This location serves as the type-site for the Izembek Phase, showcasing a small village with an exceptional whalebone house and numerous artifacts similar to those found in the Bristol Bay region. The period of time spanned is approximately 1200-1350 CE. The research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411 by H. Maschner, Principal Investigator, led to the presentation of Alaska Peninsula artifacts. These artifacts were scanned using a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i and processed in Geomagic or Polyworks. A total of 2-8 photos were used for texture in Geomagic Wrap. The original digitizing work was completed at the IVL at Idaho State University, while subsequent processing and publication took place at Global Digital Heritage. A.P. McCartney's research is documented in his article "Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula," published in APUA 16(1):59-84 in 1974. H. Maschner's work on the topic was also published, with a DOI of 10.1353/arc.2011.0007 and titled "Arctic Anthro." It appeared in volume 41, number 2, on January 1, 2004, pages 98-111.
