Hafted Tool XCB-003-302 Probably Dates Back to 400-1 BCE XCB-003, or IZM-003, is a site that was thoroughly examined by A.P. McCartney in 1971. It serves as the type-site for the Izembek Phase. This small village features a one-of-a-kind whalebone house and numerous artifacts that are similar to those discovered in the Bristol Bay region. The artifacts date back approximately 1200-1350 CE. The Alaska Peninsula artifacts were made possible by research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led this investigation as the Principal Investigator. These artifacts were digitized using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. They were then processed in Geomagic or Polyworks. Between 2-8 photos were used to create texture in Geomagic Wrap. The original digitizing work was done at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., and subsequent processing and publication took place at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney, A.P. Conducted Research on Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula in 1974, Published in APUA 16(1):59-84. H. Maschner Published an Article with DOI: 10.1353/arc.2011.0007 Arctic Anthro. January 1, 2004 vol. 41 no. 2 98-111.
