Hafted Knife. XCB-105-3166. Dating back to 400 BCE-100 CE\nXCB-105 Adamagan, meaning "place of walrus hunters" in Aleut, sits atop Morzhovoi Bay, the western Alaska Peninsula's rugged landscape. This sprawling village is a testament to its inhabitants' resourcefulness, with multiple occupations thriving side by side. At its peak during 400 BCE-100 CE, it boasted an impressive estimated population of 1000 people, solidifying its status as the Arctic's largest village. Archaeologists have also uncovered limited evidence of occupation dating back to 2200-1700 BCE, 1000-600 BCE, and 900-1100 CE.\nA comprehensive collection of Western Alaska Peninsula artifacts has been compiled thanks to research grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. The artifacts were meticulously scanned using a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i, with subsequent processing done in Geomagic or Polyworks. High-quality textures were achieved by combining 2-8 photos in Geomagic Wrap. The initial digitization work was carried out at the IVL on Id. St. Univ., while further processing and publication took place at Global Digital Heritage.
