Hafted Knife. XCB-105-2034. 400 BCE - 100 CE. XCB-105 Adamagan, an Aleut term meaning place of walrus hunters, is situated at the head of Morzhovoi Bay on the western Alaska Peninsula. This massive village supports multiple occupations. At the time it was inhabited from 400 BCE to 100 CE, Adamagan was the largest Arctic village with an estimated population of 1,000 people. It also includes limited occupations dated 2,200-1,700 BCE, 1,000-600 BCE, and 900-1,100 CE. Western Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a result of research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner served as Principal Investigator for this project. The artifacts were digitized using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processing was completed in Geomagic or Polyworks, with 2-8 photos used to create texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work took place at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing and publication were handled by Global Digital Heritage.
