Hafted Knife. XCB-105-1972. Ancient Artifacts Emerge From Alaska's Western Shore. XCB-105 Adamagan, a monumental settlement nestled within Morzhovoi Bay on the western Alaska Peninsula, stands as a testament to human ingenuity and resilience. This vast village, once home to an estimated 1000 inhabitants between 400 BCE and 100 CE, boasts multiple occupations that span centuries. Archaeological findings suggest limited occupation dates of 2200-1700 BCE, 1000-600 BCE, and 900-1100 CE. The Western Alaska Peninsula artifacts showcased here are the result of meticulous research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner, Principal Investigator, spearheaded this project. Utilizing cutting-edge technology, these artifacts were meticulously scanned with either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Subsequent processing was carried out in Geomagic or Polyworks, while 2-8 photos were expertly applied to texture within Geomagic Wrap. Original digitization took place at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., with subsequent refinement and publication completed at Global Digital Heritage.
