Hadrian's Wall, Heddon on the Wall, UK
sketchfab
The western end of a well-preserved section of Hadrian's Wall lies just east of Heddon on the Wall village, with English Heritage overseeing its care for nearly 255 meters. This stretch represents a part of the planned broad wall, while further west the structure was scaled down in thickness to save time and resources. A preserved portion of the broad wall at Heddon stands between 2.8m and 3m wide and reaches heights of up to 1.7m (seven courses). The original rubble core was set within puddled clay but has since been reset in mortar to preserve the section during consolidation. Only the outer face is exposed for the first 12 meters at the western end. Medieval builders constructed a circular kiln into the wall's west end, likely used to dry corn (coordinates NZ 13622 66942). This kiln measures 1.9m in diameter and features a paved floor, with its surrounding wall reaching a maximum height of 0.7m (three courses). The flue is situated within the south-west arc and stretches 1.4m wide.
