HackRF Portapack H1 Loudspeaker Box
thingiverse
This is an improvement over my previous (inferior) design: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4893985 This one has better sound and is mounted between the HackRF One and Portapack H1 boards. It uses a single low-cost 8 Ohm / 2 W / 40x20x6 mm loudspeaker. You can buy this particular loudspeaker e.g. on Aliexpress at the "JUHIWOR SCIENCE Store" shop (look for "Acoustic Loudspeaker 2W 8R 4020 2040") or elsewhere. Howto: - Print the box. - Solder two cables to the loudspeaker pins and push the cables' ends from inside the box through the two holes. - Install the loudspeaker in the box and melt the tops of the four mounting pins with your soldering iron to mushroom shape in order to fix the loudspeaker in place. - Glue the box to the Portapack H1 board with thin double-sided sticker tape or glue. But check the position vis-a-vis the HackRF One first, the spacing is tight. - Solder the leads to the loudspeaker pads on the Portapack H1 board. - Protect the circuits on the HackRF One board facing the loudspeaker with tape against short circuiting by the loudspeaker's metal chassis in case the double-sided sticker tape or glue gets loose. - Connect the Portapack H1 to the HackRF One and install the assembly in the Portapack H1 housing. If you are using the Mayhem package on your Portapack H1: - Activate the loudspeaker under Options/Interface. "Hide the speaker option" must be deselected (= red "X" in the respective clickbox). - Activate the loudspeaker in the utility you are using (loudspeaker symbol in the top row) and adjust the loudness (two-digit figure to the right of the second symbol row from the top). The box has two cutouts at the top to ease disassembly of the loudspeaker. As always I include the OpenSCAD source file. None of my designs is so perfect that it could not be improved.
