Hack Like Heck: Andy G - Portable Emulator with Swappable Controls
thingiverse
I designed a portable emulator for the Hack Like Heck challenge that lets you easily switch between controllers. Whether you're playing a NES game, you can use a NES controller. If you're playing a SNES game, then you can use a SNES controller and so on. At its core is a Raspberry Pi Zero W that drives a 5-inch, 800x480 LCD screen with 18 of its GPIO pins. Other features include a speaker and headphone jack, a safe power off button, and a USB power out to charge your cell phone. I'm running the RetroPie OS. The TFT Friend from Adafruit helped drive the display, and I'm using DPI Mode 6 for 18-bit color while leaving GPIO 18 and 19 free for audio out. Check my GitHub page for more information. You can find the build video on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsVwkv0dr7A My design files and list of parts are also on my GitHub page.
