We seem to have a persistent mouse problem. Despite owning four cats, the mice continue to evade their clutches by hiding in the walls and ceiling of our basement, where the felines cannot reach them. To capture these sneaky rodents, we tried setting live traps in the ceiling last year, but the hassle of regularly checking and removing them became unbearable. So, I designed a new type of mouse trap! It's inspired by the "tin cat" style mousetrap that can be placed in the ceiling with a 3D printed passthrough leading to a habitrail cage. This custom part connects seamlessly like any other habitrail component. People say if you build a better mousetrap, everyone will flock to your doorstep. Rest assured, the world has already beaten a path to our door. This ingenious device also works beautifully for adding custom features to your habitrail system. Instructions: * Grab a Habitrail from Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UODW6U/. * Purchase a "tin cat" style mousetrap on Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Victor-Live-Mouse-Trap-M310/dp/B00004RAMU/. Now, print the passthrough and place the ring at its base. Use a permanent marker to trace the inner circle and mark the drill holes. Cut through the part using a Dremel with a heavy-duty cutoff wheel just outside the marked circle but within the bolt holes. Next, insert the long piece into the tin cat and secure it with three M3 bolts through the ring. The optimal bolt length will depend on the material you're working with; for most cases, 35mm (give or take a bit) should suffice. If needed, adjust the parametric scad file to change the relevant variable. Finally, attach this innovative device to your habitrail system using a standard habitrail connector ring.
