I was messing with belts in my setup and managed to put a plier jaw through the stock fan grill on my H2 and knocked blades off the fan. Losing one blade out of seven on that stock fan made the thing vibrate like the coin-op bed in a cheap motel.

On top of keeping stray tools out of the fan blades, I also looked at the grill and the resulting airflow and figured it could use better managed. One of the advantages of the heatsink design on the H2 is that the exhaust airflow is directed up and away from your model so that air is not mixing with the dedicated parts cooling air. This ensures the intake air for that heatsink fan comes from the similar direction and not sucked up off the print bed even a little.

On top of all that, to my eye, this makes the H2 seem more balanced. I have the room on the left side of the X axis to take the additional space from this shroud. Your mileage may vary in that regard.

Printing notes:

I plan to enclose and use high temp filaments so this was printed out of Priline PC-CF.

Printed on the flat face that goes away from the extruder, with full supports

Used 0.24mm layer height but enabled variable layer height and made sure the fillets on the mounting surfaces were well detailed to avoid interference with fan blades

Post processed with a little 400grit sandpaper on those same contours to make sure there were no dangly bits that would get into the fan

Installed using the stock M3 screws that came with the H2 for that fan grill.
