The UH-60 BLACK HAWK multirole helicopter serves with the U.S. military and 26 other countries worldwide as a tough, reliable utility aircraft. Over the past 35 years, this remarkable helicopter has successfully navigated countless combat zones to deliver troops, save lives as a MEDEVAC platform, provide critical supplies, deliver emergency aid during natural disasters, and serve as an aerial firefighter and border patrol officer. Today's modern BLACK HAWK variant takes on a new mission set - providing fire suppression when supporting ground troops and armed escort. Equipped with digital avionics, powerful GE engines, high-strength airframe structures, and composite wide-chord rotor blades, the current platform boasts improved survivability and situational awareness, allowing it to fly higher and carry more than its predecessors. More than 3,000 BLACK HAWK aircraft of all types are currently in service worldwide. The U.S. Army operates the largest fleet with 2,300 UH-60 designated aircraft. Internationally sold aircraft from Sikorsky acquire the S-70 designation.
