Għajn Tuffieħa Tower (Torri t'Għajn Mixkuka)
sketchfab
Għajn Tuffieħa Tower stands proudly atop cliffs overlooking Għajn Tuffieħa Bay, situated near Mellieħa and Mġarr on Malta's north west coast. This tower has a clear line of sight with Lippija and Nadur Towers. Vincenzo Maculani, an Italian architect, designed the tower in 1637. Its layout is almost identical to Lippija Tower, featuring a square plan and two floors topped by a flat roof with a parapet. Each floor houses a single room, and originally, access to the upper floor was gained through a wooden ladder. Għajn Tuffieħa Tower was built on the site of a medieval watch post. Initially, it was equipped with a ½-pounder gun, and its garrison consisted of a captain and three men. These soldiers were paid by the Università of Mdina.
